5 State Universities To Produce Professional Protective Clothing And Sanitizers To Help Manage The Spread Of COVID-19

The government has roped in 5 state universities with engineering and technology centres to produce professional protective clothing (PPC) and sanitizers to be used to combat the spread of COVID-19, The Herald reports.

A government research engine Verify Engineering has also been capacitated to produce the PPC and the sanitizers in partnerships with universities.

This was revealed by Tertiary Education Minister Amon Murwira who said:

Verify Engineering has an oxygen plant and they work with universities, but they are not a university. They are a parastatal, a research company for the Government of Zimbabwe.

We are going to capacitate it to produce medical oxygen as soon as possible. The company has the capacity to satisfy both the Zimbabwean and export markets.

Sanitizers and masks have become a hot commodity as they are being sold for an arm and a leg as they are being sought after by many people due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
