Nakamba: This Lockdown Got Me Missing Football

Warriors and Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba said he misses football after British authorities placed the country on lockdown to arrest the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

Nakamba has not kicked a ball in anger since the 9th of March when Aston Villa were beaten 4-0 by former English champions Leicester City.

“Naka”, as he is affectionately called by his legion of English fans, expressed his frustration through a post on Twitter. He wrote:

This lockdown got me missing football. I hope to be back on the pitch soon and I hope everyone is keeping safe.

Meanwhile, the Premier League was suspended after COVID-19 had reached the British isles and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta tested positive for the coronavirus.

The return of the Premier League will depend on how things develop with regard to the coronavirus containment efforts. A statement from the Football Association several days ago said:

The progress of Covid-19 remains unclear and we can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.

We will continue to follow Government advice and work collaboratively to keep the situation under review and explore all options available to find ways of resuming the season when the conditions allow.
