A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the 10th-floor of a building in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD).
The incident was confirmed by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) through a post on microblogging site Twitter on Thursday. The post read:
Police in Harare are investigating a suspected suicide case involving a 29-year-old man who is believed to have jumped from the 10th floor of a building in the CBD.
He suffered head injuries and died on the spot. We urge the public to seek counselling instead of taking their lives.
According to the Daily News, between 2015 and 2019, 2 058 men committed suicide as compared to 505 females during the same period.
The suicides were spurred by different traumatic experiences such as knowing their HIV-positive status, marital neglect and financial challenges.
