Harare First Street Econet Shop Shut Down

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has closed another shop in a bid to suppress the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a statement released on Friday, the telecoms company said Harare First Street Econet Shop will be closed temporarily and customers will be advised when it is re-opened. A post on the company’s social media page read:

To help stop the spread of COVID-19 we have temporarily closed the Harare First Street Econet Shop. Together we can stop the spread of COVID-19! Avoid non-essential trips. We will call you back!

The move follows the closure of the company’s two shops on Wednesday this week for similar reasons. Econet closed Victoria Falls Econet Shop in Victoria Falls and Joina City Econet Shop in Harare.

Other Mobile Networks Operators (MNOs), NetOne Zimbabwe and Telecel Zimbabwe have also drastically reduced their operating hours to just four each weekday, with the former completely shutting down its shops during weekends.
