Chegutu RDC Fires Its Chief Executive Officer
Chegutu Rural District Council (RDC) chief executive Dan Zvobgo, who had been on forced leave after allegedly failing to appear before an investigation committee, has been fired with immediate effect.
Chegutu RDC chairman Tatenda Gwinji confirmed the development on Thursday without giving the finer details.
However, The Herald reports that documents in its possession indicate that Zvobgo was accused of several misdemeanours including giving a Non-Governmental Organisation, Direct Aid, a lease for Jinkstown Primary School without following proper council procedures.
Zvobgo also allegedly issued a developmental permit for Sunny Fi Yeng Norton Tile Company without council mandate.
The Sunny Fi Yeng project is valued at around US$30 million but the council was only paid $17 000 instead of 0,5 per cent of the value of the project.
