ZIMRA Workers At R.G. Mugabe Airport Withdraw Services Over Possible Exposure To Coronavirus

Zimbabwe Revenue Authority workers at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport have withdrawn their services citing possible exposure to the novel coronavirus.

In a statement by the workers’ representative board Zimbabwe Revenue and Allied Workers Trade Union (ZIMRATU), the workers they are withdrawing their services until recommendations by the World Health Organisation (WHO) have been implemented.

The letter dated 24 March 2020 and addressed to The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) Commissioner-General read in part:

The occupational hazard involves possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus of workers who were at the referred airport when one client who is now deceased passed through and was served by ZIMRA workers.
