ZIMA Urges The Government To Make Any 2 Of The Country's Biggest Hospitals In Metropolitan Towns Designated COVID-19 Care Centers

ZIMA published a statement today urging the government to recapacitate pharmaceuticals and provide professional protective clothing to COVID-19 frontliners.

The statement went on to urge the government to make either Parirenyatwa Hospital or Harare Hospital in Harare and UBH or Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo designated COVID-19 centres. ZIMA also urged the government to refurbish the ICU sections of the hospitals in preparation to take in serious COVID-19 patients.

ZIMA’s Statement reads in part:

Designated Care centres: We recommend that either Parirenyatwa Hospital or Harare Hospital in Harare and either UBH or Mpilo Hospitals be designated COVOD-19 Care Centres.

It is our considered opinion that these centres need minimal refurbishment to ensure that basic ICU equipment is functional. The other central hospitals to remain open for other medical emergencies which are not COVID-19 related.
