The family of the first known person to die of Coronavirus in Zimbabwe has accused the government of lying to Zimbabweans on its preparedness to handle Coronavirus cases in the country.
Said the family as part of an interview with The Daily News:
I want people to know that the government is lying.
Remember at some point I spoke to the president and he was saying that the report he received about Wilkins from the Health Minister is that there is equipment and medicine. However, right now they don’t even have water at Wilkins. So if you come here to be treated for corona there is absolutely no treatment you will get, you will die.
The family further claims that the government has no medication at all to help ease the symptoms of the disease and that the families of patients have to look for and buy medication themselves.
The family also said that Wilkins hospital does not have any ventilators to help patients who struggle with breathing. Despite having no ventilator itself, the government apparently refused the family the use of a portable ventilator that they had secured from a friend.
