Local Government Minister Prohibits Mayors And Council Personnel From Announcing COVID-19 Cases
The Local Government Minister July Moyo has sent his ministry’s permanent secretary Zvinechimwe Churu to gag all mayors and council personnel who are in charge of council hospitals which are being used as isolation centres for COVID-19 from announcing any COVID-19 cases, ZimLive reports.
Moyo reportedly instructed Churu to sent a message to all mayors in this message:
Please send message to all mayors, chairmen, town clerks and secretaries that announcements are made by the minister of health only or authorised by HE (President Emmerson Mnangagwa). State of disaster requires that discipline. Please advise them immediately
FeedbackThis comes after the Harare Mayor announced that Harare has recorded 2 cases of COVID-19 which the health ministry disputed and said it was just one case.
