Award-winning Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono has reportedly been marked by Facebook after he allegedly posted false information on the platform.

This was revealed by Twitter-based ZANU PF activist known as Mmatigari. Posting on Twitter, Matigari said:

Breaking News Facebook flags Mbudziyadhura Hopewell Chin’ono for publishing & spreading fake news & falsehoods. Criminal behaviour.

The alleged development comes at a time when the abuse of social media in Zimbabwe has intensified recently.

Resultantly, the government has been urging members of the public to rely on official information for updates on the novel coronavirus.
