The president who banned large gatherings was seen today at the HICC officially opening the National Renewable Energy Policy (NREP) and Biofuels Policy of Zimbabwe (BPZ).
The president yesterday caused a media frenzy when he was seen addressing a rally just 1 day after prohibiting large gatherings. However, the president was quick to point out that the ban he announced on Tuesday would be effective on Friday (tomorrow).
The president’s activities for today were announced in a tweeted by the Ministry of Energy and Power Development:
H.E. Cde. E. D. Mnangagwa is now giving his address; “These 2 key policies are being launched at a time when Zimbabwe is realising an increase in the investment in the Renewable Energy sector which may be constrained by the attack on the world by the virus COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the president has issued a statement that states that schools must close by 24 March in the wake of the novel coronavirus which has killed over 9000 people so far.
