Mutare Infectious Diseases Hospital Not Equipped To Handle COVID-19 Cases, - Mutare Mayor

The Mutare Mayor, Blessing Tandi,  at a press conference today dropped a bombshell and said the City’s designated COVID-19 isolation center is ill-equipped to handle any COVID-19 case, Zim Morning Post reports.

Tandi said if Mutare records a COVID-19 case, it will have to be transferred to Hararre’s Wilkins Hospital. Tandi also said the hospital needs about US $400 000 for renovations:

We need at least US$400 000 to renovate the Mutare Infectious Hospital. A financial resource mobilisation for Mutare Infectious Disease Hospital is being done so that it meets the standard required for a safe isolation unit.

In the event of a suspected case, the individual will be transported to Wilkins Hospital for testing, isolation and further management

Mutare Infectious Diseases Hospital has been identified as the COVID-19 cases isolation center in Mutare by the government.
