Former Victoria Falls Mayor Withdraws Lawsuit Against Chamisa

Former Victoria Falls Mayor, Somvelo Dlamini, has withdrawn his court action against the MDC and its leader Nelson Chamisa for expelling him from the party and recalling him as a councillor.

Dlamini was expelled on 24 February 2020 after he defied the party’s directive to relinquish the mayoral role for the party’s preferred candidate, Margaret Valley and become her deputy.

He had also cited the party’s Secretary-General, Chalton Hwende, party Matabeleland North provincial chair, Prince Dube Sibanda and the Local Government Minister as respondents in his initial application filed at the Bulawayo High Court Friday on Friday.

Dlamini had accused Hwende and others of breaching his right to a fair hearing as contained in the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

In his withdrawal papers, Dlamini said he withdrew the matter with consent from all the six respondents. He said:
