“Everyone Used Letters From ED’s Office To Import Personal Vehicles,” Ex Aide To Mnangagwa Reveals

Mr Douglas Tapfuma the former aide to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has alleged that Everyone in government and Zanu-PF has been using letters from the office of the President to import personal vehicles.

Tapfuma made the allegations last week at Harare Magistrates’ Court where he was facing charges of criminal abuse office and tax evasion after he allegedly used his position to import cars for friends. He said:

Everyone in government and Zanu-PF has been doing it. I wrote a letter to Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Ray Ndhlukula requesting him for duty-free exemption letter and the request was granted through the letter he signed. If there were any doubts of my requests, he would have declined, but due to the fact that everyone was doing it, I see no problems with that.

He added that it is a tradition that has been in existence for long to import personal vehicles through the Office of the President and Cabinet under the vehicles duty-free facility.

Tapfuma added that he assisted Mupereri import ambulances to his constituency to win a seat for the ruling Zanu-PF party, which would be a good gesture to President Mnangagwa.
