Rwanda Issues Statement On Suspended RwandAir Flights & Measures To Curb COVID-19 {Full Text}

Dear Esteem Member,

RwandAir wishes to reassure you that your safety and security is of paramount importance and we would never fly to a destination unless it was safe to do so.

We are working closely with global and national authorities to understand the latest advice and guidance on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and operate our services accordingly.

RwandAir will waive change of reservations costs, re-issues and refunds for all affected passengers affected by our recent temporary suspension of flights to Guangzhou, Mumbai and Tel Aviv.

RwandAir has introduced a new booking policy to offer flexible future travel options for customers concerned about flying due to the coronavirus outbreak. It has waived all rebooking fees for all new flight bookings made between March 9 and April 31, 2020.

The waiver applies to:

All fare types, including groups

All RwandAir destinations

All points-of-sale

All travel, which has commenced before April 31, 2020.

To be eligible for RwandAir’s new travel options, all ticket changes must be completed by April 31, 2020.
If you have booked your ticket directly from our website or sales office, you can reschedule your flight through reservations@rwandair.com or local sales office.

For refunds, please contact onlinerefunds@rwandair.com.

For tickets booked through travel agencies, please contact your travel agent to amend or refund your booking.

Government measures related to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

RWANDA

Effective from 9 March 2020:

All travellers arriving in Rwanda at all points of entry will be screened

Any traveller showing any symptoms of Covid-19 and arriving from countries with confirmed cases of Covid-19 will be considered as suspected carriers and will be isolated for further investigations and laboratory testing procedures at the nearest hospital

Those confirmed with Covid-19 will be sent immediately to a dedicated treatment centre.

Those confirmed as negative will remain eligible for active follow up and will be advised to provide full identification for continued daily monitoring at a place of self-quarantine for up to14 days from the date they departed any country with confirmed Covid-19 cases. The location of the suspected cases has to be accessible by the Ministry of Health- Rwanda Biomedical Centre

Suspected individuals in self-quarantine conditions must abide by the following conditions: wear masks all the time, self-isolate from others in the same household and call 114 for further direction.

Any traveller arriving from a country with confirmed Covid-19 case will be considered at risk. They will be recorded in a register for continued daily monitoring for up to14 days from the date they left the country with confirmed cases of Covid-19.

BENIN
Effective from 11 March

Passengers who have been in coronavirus (Covid-19) affected countries are subject to self-quarantine for up to 14 days. – This does not apply to flight or cabin crew members.

GABON
Effective from 11 March

Passengers who have been in China (People’s Rep.) at any time in the past 14 days, are not allowed to enter Gabon.

Passengers who have been in coronavirus (COVID-19) affected countries are subject to quarantine for 14 days.

KENYA
Effective from 10 March

Passengers who have been in China (People’s Rep.) or in any other country with confirmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) in the past 14 days must complete a health declaration form and present it at the Government port health officials upon arrival.

SOUTH AFRICA
Effective from 10 March

A completed health questionnaire must be presented to Port Health upon arrival.

UGANDA
Effective from 10 March

Passengers who reside in China (People’s Rep.), France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.) or Spain will be quarantined for up to 14 days and those from other countries will undergo the routine screening upon arrival and be advised accordingly on the measures to undertake while in the country to prevent infection

BURUNDI
Effective from 7 March

All travellers from China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, South Korea and Spain will be quarantined for up to 14 days

CONGO
Effective from 7 March

All travellers from China, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Iran and France will be quarantined for up to 14 days.

ZIMBABWE
Effective from 4 March

People visiting Zimbabwe from countries affected by coronavirus (Covid-19) without valid medical certificates showing they are negative, will be sent back at the port of entry as the country strengthens its fight against the spread of the virus. The medical clearance certificates should show that the visitors were examined for symptoms and tested for Covid-19 at a Government-designated institution in their home country

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
Effective from 12 March

Nationals of Iran are not allowed to transit or enter the United Arab Emirates. This does not apply to passengers with a valid UAE Resident Visa. A prior ‘OK TO BOARD’ must be obtained from NAIC-UAE. This does not apply to diplomatic passport holders. A prior ‘OK TO BOARD’ must be obtained from NAIC-UAE.

Passengers arriving from Italy must have departed from Fiumicino (FCO) or Ciampino (CIA). All passengers and crew must go through a Covid-19 screening process.

Nationals of the United Arab Emirates are allowed to enter with a national ID card if they left before 28 February 2020.

Passengers arriving from China (People’s Rep.) must have departed from Beijing (PEK). All passengers and crew must go through a Covid-19 screening process.

Nationals of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are no longer allowed to enter the United Arab Emirates with a national ID card, they must have a passport.

Based on the travel advisory restriction issued by the United Arab Emirates Government, nationals of the United Arab Emirates are not allowed to travel to Iran or Thailand.

Passengers arriving on a direct flight at Abu Dhabi (AUH) from Italy, Lebanon and Syria must go through a Covid-19 screening process and obtain a proof of screening slip before continuing to Immigration
