Former Farm Workers Attack Messenger Of Court Trying To Evict Them

Former farm workers at Water Vlei Farm along Seke road in Chitungwiza yesterday attacked a messenger of court who was trying to evict them, The Herald reports.

The residents who had been given ample time to evict the farm which is now owned by one Tambudzai Kuchepa said they were given permission to stay at the farm by a quarrying syndicate called Supersands.

The messenger of court was using a boltcutter to gain entry into their homes and throwing away their belongings. The attack reportedly came after the messenger reportedly pushed one cameraman from The Herald and people blocked his truck and started assaulting him.

People complained that they had not been given enough time to evict despite being ordered to leave in 2017 and some complained about losing the property the messenger of court was throwing outside their homes.
