Rwanda Suspends All International Sporting Activities

Rwanda has decided to halt participation in all sporting activities outside Rwanda due to the COVID-19 outbreak, The Herald reports.

According to Rwandan sporting authorities:

Sports Associations in Rwanda, in their quest to put in place plans to prevent the outbreak of the deadly disease, have agreed to cancel all international sporting activities until further notice.

The Ministry of Sports have called on the organisations to immediately contact those concerned at African or global level to avoid sanctions.

This means that Rwanda won’t be travelling to Cape Verde for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications and also the 2020 Africa Nations Championship in Cameroon.

Meanwhile, Algeria has placed all domestic football on lockdown due to the outbreak that has killed over 3500 people worldwide.
