Chamisa Tells His Rivals To Leave The MDC

MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has told members of his party who are not happy with the state of affairs currently obtaining that they are free to leave the movement.

Speaking to the Daily News on Tuesday through his spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda, Chamisa accused some of his colleagues of hobnobbing with the ruling ZANU PF party to destabilise the opposition. Said Sibanda:

The door is wide open for people to leave. In the MDC we encourage people to resign, and if a person resigns that does not make it a crisis.

However, it should be noted that the president is a unifying leader who believes in sharing ideas.

We are now the MDC Alliance. It is clear that these are two different entities from the MDC-T, and those who want to leave are free to leave.

We had our congress and people in the MDC Alliance expressed themselves freely. Those who want to leave can leave.

The MDC is embroiled in factional fights with reports indicating that violence erupted in Masvingo over the weekend during a party programme, with some members left nursing broken limbs.

Meanwhile, the MDC has barred Bulawayo Mayor Clr Solomon Mnguni and five other councillors from accessing the party offices for renewing Bulawayo City Council Town Clerk Christopher Dube’s contract.
