Tobacco Farmers And The RBZ Still To Agree On Payment System

Tobacco Farmers are still negotiating with the government to get their proceeds in a favourable currency/way, The Herald reports.

This was revealed by the Deputy Finance Minister Clemence Chiduwa in parly last week during a question and answer session. Chiduwa said:

Like I said, the policy has not changed from what was obtaining last year.

However, the farmers and the RBZ are engaged in negotiations so the new system that will be used this tobacco marketing season will only be announced at the conclusion of the talks.

The 2020 Tobacco selling and marketing season is yet to commence after it was deferred due to late rains.
