Former Editor of The Sunday Mail, Edmund Kudzayi initiated an online poll which suggested that the majority of Zimbabweans who reside in the country currently earn less than US$100 or ZWL3 500.
Participants to the poll were to choose among the following categories:
- Under ZWL$3 500
- Between ZWL$3 500 and ZWL$7000
- Above ZWL$7000
- Tigere Diaspora
Key: Z$3,500 =US$100.
The poll was initiated to establish the average income earned by people who reside and work in Zimbabwe.
Below are the results:
- Under ZWL$3 500 =33%
- Between ZWL$3 500 and ZWL$7000 = 18%
- Above ZWL$7000 = 20%
- Tigere Diaspora = 29%
According to this poll, which is by no means scientific, 46% of Twitter users in Zimbabwe earn less than US$100 per month.
