Agent Sawu, Sharif Mussa Touted For Warriors Team Manager Role

The appointment of Warriors team manager has been held back by disagreement within the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) board, with reports suggesting that some members prefer someone from the Southern Region.

It has been rumoured that former Warriors striker Agent Sawu is the preferred candidate for Southerners but ZIFA communications manager Xolisani Gwesela denied that regionalism will play a part in identifying the ideal candidate. Said Gwesela:

I’m not aware of any cracks in Zifa board. In as far as I know Zifa board is united and as for the appointment of the team manager they are appointed on the basis of merit and experience, not regionalism.

The post fell vacant following the removal of Wellington Mpandare, who has been the national team manager for the past three years.

Mpandare also reapplied for the job but the ZIFA board is thought to be unwilling to hire him in a similar role.
