Chi-town Businessman Loses $149k To Armed Robbers
A Chitungwiza businessman, Ernest Mangwiro Nyamayaro, popularly known as “Mukanya” lost $149 000 to armed robbers who raided his home around 4:30 AM on Thursday in an incident suspected to have been an inside job.
Mukanya operates a potato business and owns properties in and around Chitungwiza.
The six armed robbers first attacked the security guard on duty at his Riverside house in Chitungwiza, and forcibly took five cellphones and cash from Mukanya’s wife.
The incident was confirmed by national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Friday. He said:
We believe that the robbers had inside information that the businessman had cash at home. We are still investigating the case.
