Wilkins Hospital Placed Under Temporary Lockdown
Wilkins Hospital has been put under lockdown after a Chinese national was on Sunday quarantined at the hospital’s specialised unit for a suspected case of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Harare City health director Prosper Chonzi said they had evacuated all the patients from Wilkins to Beatrice Infectious Hospital. Said Chonzi:
As per procedure, we evacuated them to Beatrice Infectious Hospital, so right now Wilkins Hospital is not functioning fully, but by end of this week, it will be operational.
FeedbackWe admitted this patient on Sunday for a suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. We placed him under isolation because that is what is required of us to do if one is suspected to be carrying the virus and we isolated him at Wilkins Hospital.
The reason for admission was that he had a positive history of travel. He has done very well and we have since done the PCR tests for coronavirus.
