'Only One MaShurugwi Gang Yet To Be Accounted For'

The Minister of State for National Security in the President’s Office, Owen Ncube said that only one MaShurugwi gang is still to be accounted for, with the rest having been arrested.

Ncube said this while responding to a question from Senator Bekithemba Mpofu in the Senate last week on what his Ministry is doing about the machete-wielding gangs. Said Ncube;

I would like to thank the Hon Member for asking such a pertinent question. The issue of MaShurugwi has been dealt with. I think we are only left to account for one group.

All the other groups have been arrested. They have appeared in court and some of them have been sentenced. I thank you.

The MaShurugwi menace reached its zenith towards the end of 2019 as the violent machete-wielding thugs attacked and robbed people across the country.
