FULL TEXT: MDC To Host The Inaugural Smart Councils Summit Next Week

The MDC Alliance will next week hold their maiden Smart Councils Summit. This was posted on Facebook by the party in a statement that reads:

The MDC will next week host the much-awaited Smart Councils Summit at which will the party’s deployees to rural and urban local authorities will congregate to exchange ideas and get direction from the party leadership on how they can improve service delivery to ratepayers.

The People’s President Advocate Nelson Chamisa announced the dates for the long-awaited Smart Councils Summit at a Mayors Forum in Harare last Friday. The summit will be held in the capital from the 11th to 12th of March 2020. The event will draw participants from all councils, including councilors from the country’s rural wards.

The People’s President will outline and unveil the Smart Cities Agenda as well as the Smart Rural Initiative.

Last week, President Chamisa encouraged the party’s deployees to the various urban and rural councils to hold feedback meetings and to maintain an organic relationship with the ratepayers who elected them.
