FULL THREAD: Police Recover Part Of The US$400 000 Stolen From Security Company

Zimbabwe Republic Police have reported that they have recovered part of the money that was stolen from a security company in Waterfalls Harare.

Police announced on Twitter on Tuesday that it was suspected that insiders aided to the theft. Posting on Twitter, ZRP said:

A security company based in Waterfalls, Hre has lost cash amounting to US$400, 000 in a suspected inside job involving employees. The stolen money was in a cash box which went missing from the company vault.

The cash box was later recovered outside the company premises without the money. Investigations are in progress.

Police later (this Wednesday) reported that they had recovered part of the money. They said:

Police have recovered USD229 000, 00 of the loot. The money was shared among 5 company employees and 4 of them have been arrested and referred to court while Edward Kapfuya is on the run.

Meanwhile, some are concerned why the company had such amount of cash. It is important to note that Security companies can help in cash-in-transit.

This means that they can help in the physical transfer of banknotes, coins, debit and credit cards and items of value from one location to another. Some of the companies exclusively provide these services.
