The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) said it has complied with a government directive to reverse its decision to hike examination fees and revert to the fees structure approved in 2015 of $15 per subject.
ZIMSEC public relations manager Nicky Dlamini advised parents to report errant schools so that they will be dealt with accordingly. She said:
The examination fees still stand at $15. We have not sent a circular to schools informing them of any changes on examination fees.
If any school is found on the wrong side of the law, the parents should report directly to the relevant ministry so that drastic measures will be taken accordingly.
We are guided by the Government on the examination fees structure. What the Government said will remain.
If there are any changes, we will send a circular to schools informing them.
ZIMSEC had increased examination fees to $190 per subject from $15 for Ordinary Level candidates and $351 per subject from $26 for Advanced Level candidates.
Following a public uproar over the fees hike, the government ordered the examinations council to revert to the fees structure approved in 2015.
ZIMSEC also announced that the closing date for payments and submission of entries is February 28 and March 27 for June examinations and November examinations respectively.
Late entries will close on May 15.
How the same schools charge centre fee of rtgs100 & stationary fee rtgs 100,the exam remain beyond the reach of the us the poor
Why are some schools still charging 190 per subject when it has been said not to change. This is confusing can’t it be uniform
It’s quite confusing because I paid the 190 on Monday the 24th of February , the school told me there is no such thing as the cancellation of exam fees!
Some primary schools are even charging grade 7 examination fees most notably Charingeno Primary school in Zaka district in Masvingo province.
