ZBC Approaches The Courts To Force Former CEO To Return Vehicle

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Services has approached courts in a bid to recover a Chevrolet Trailblazer which was given to ousted former CEO Patrick Mavhura for his use during his term.

Mavhura was ousted and immediately arrested last year for stealing from the broadcaster. ZBC company secretary Patricia Muchengwa indicated in a court filing on Monday that Mavhura had ignored all attempts to reach him and arrange the voluntary return of the US$25,000 car. Muchengwa said:

Applicant (ZBC)  is in the broadcasting business with a constitutional mandate to provide public services. The vehicle is a public resource and key asset to ensure delivery on a day to day basis. The conduct of the respondent (Mavhura) in refusing to surrender the vehicle has severely hampered applicant’s work.

The broadcaster also indicated that it is seeking an order authorising the Deputy Sheriff to seize the vehicle from Mavhura as it is required for its day to day operations.
