ZRP In Mutoko Arrest 7 Women, Including A 6 Months Old Baby For Protesting Against Poor Education Standards
ZRP in Mutoko arrested 7 women who were protesting against poor education standards, VOA reports. The women, among them a 6-month-old baby, stagged a demo and handed their petition to the Mutoko District Council before they were arrested and charged with:
participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of the peace or bigotry as defined in section 37 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
The women were represented by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights’ Nontokozo Tachiona-Dube who applied for bail for their release. The women were remanded to 5 March 2020.
