Nakamba Returns To Villa XI Against Southampton

Aston Villa coach Dean Smith has restored Zimbabwean international midfielder Marvelous Nakamba to the starting XI in the game against Southampton this Saturday afternoon.

Nakamba came on from the bench in the 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham and played the last 30 minutes of the game.

He replaces Chelsea loanee Danny Drinkwater who has been dropped to the bench.

Following Aston Villa’s loss to Spurs, the club’s correspondent Ashley Preece, writing for Birmingham Live, said: “to some, it could have been seen as a little brash to go without ‘Naka’ for Tottenham”.

ASTON VILLA XI (3-4-3): Pepe Reina; Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause; Matt Targett, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba, Frederic Guilbert; Anwar El Ghazi, Mbwana Samatta, Jack Grealish.

SUBS: Orjan Nyland, Bjorn Engels, Ahmed Elmohamady, Danny Drinkwater, Conor Hourihane, Trezeguet, Borja Baston.
