Two Newly-constructed Bridges Collapse After Heavy Rainfall

The country has lost millions of dollars in the past week following the construction of two dams which collapsed following heavy rainfall.

According to Harare Sun, Tohwe bridge in Nkayi was built “recently” but collapsed after heavy rains, raising questions on its design quality.

NEWLY CONSTRUCTED BRIDGE GIVES IN TO HEAVY RAINS: The recently constructed Tohwe bridge in Nkayi has succumbed to heavy rains which fell upstream. It is advised that motorists exercise extreme caution in this area. The bridge collapse brings design quality issues into question.

Harare Sun also revealed that Biriiri 2 Bridge at Muusha in Chimanimani collapsed last week after heavy rains.
