Chamisa Appeals To SA "To Intervene And Help" Zim "Talk And Resolve This Deep Crisis."
The leader of the opposition MDC, Nelson Chamisa has appealed to neighbouring South Africa to intervene in the Zimbabwean crisis.
Chamisa who has been accusing President Emmerson Mnangagwa of lacking interest in engaging MDC says that South Africa should help in the initiation of dialogue. He said that the Zimbabwean situation was getting out of hand and had become a regional issue.
He mentioned a number of socio-economic and political issues bedevilling the country including machete-wielding gangs who he said were overrunning the police in the country’s goldfields.
He also mentioned that the country was facing severe starvation which he said will drive even more young people to despair, and into desperate action. Chamisa fears that the situation will likely frog-jump into other countries and have devastating effects if it is not addressed now. He said:
The Zimbabwean crisis is no longer domestic, but regional.

Every country in the region already faces growing social demands from their own citizens. We are deeply grateful to our neighbours for accommodating Zimbabweans, but, in truth, none of them deserve to take on the added burden of another country’s failure.
Hence our call for our neighbours, South Africa included, to intervene and help us talk and resolve this deep crisis.
Chamisa attributes the country’s woes to maladministration by the ruling ZANU PF. He claims that the resolution of the “leadership crisis” in the country will solve the issues.
