Warriors’ Poor FIFA Rankings Doesn’t Mean Anything – Loga

Warriors coach Zdravko “Loga” Logarusic says Zimbabwe was placed in the toughest group at the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) but called for his charges to prove their mettle.

The Croat said Zimbabwe not should be intimidated by its opponents’ favourable FIFA rankings as this matters very little. He said:

I am a bit unlucky because we haven’t got the season started. When you check Cameroon, Mali and Burkina Faso, their position on FIFA rankings are around 53, 56 and 59 (respectively).

But Zimbabwe are a bit far at position 111, that means their league and the national teams are much better ranked but that doesn’t mean anything.

Zimbabwe will face hosts Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Mali in Group A at the CHAN finals in April.

Loga conceded that Mali has an advantage of physicality in that most of its players are big and strong. He, however, believes that Zimbabwe has its own advantages.
