Ousted ZANU PF Youth League Leader, Matutu, Ordered To Return 'Invaded' Farm

Former ZANU PF Youth League Deputy Secretary, Lewis Matutu has reportedly lost his Kwekwe farm after the High Court judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda on January 29, 2020, confirmed an interim order in favour of Onisimo Zhavairo from whom Matutu had reportedly grabbed the land from in 2019.

Reports suggest that Matutu deployed a number of youths as he violently grabbed the land from Zhavairo who had occupied it for 14 years.

On the other hand, Matutu was showing an offer letter which Justice Kwenda noted in his judgment delivered on December 29, 2019, that Matutu’s offer letter had been processed in error. Kwenda said:

It is trite that the system/computer programme used in allocating agricultural land is intelligent in that when one tries to generate an offer letter for land already given to another citizen, an alert pops up. In this case, an error had been made in the description of the land by the provincial allocations committee when first respondent (Matutu) requested that it be allocated to him. The second respondent (Lands ministry) did not realise that the land was already taken.

Matutu was recently suspended from ZANU PF after he and the party’s Youth League leadership allegedly violated party code of conduct when they named and shamed cartels bleeding the economy.
