Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube has said the government is compiling a database of vulnerable people in urban areas who will be given coupons to buy subsidised roller meal.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ncube said that the database for rural dwellers is already available and that for those in urban areas will be ready in the next few weeks.
In the next couple of weeks, our database should be ready. We expect to make a lot of progress this week and then next week we should be able to see the beginning of the new system.
Following Ncube’s announcement on Tuesday last week that the price of subsidised roller meal should be adjusted to $70 from $50, Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told a post-cabinet media briefing on Wednesday that the government will soon issue coupons to targeted households to enable them to buy subsidised roller meal at the stipulated price
