Maynard Manyowa, a Zimbabwean journalist, entrepreneur and spokesperson of Malawian religious leader Shepherd Bushiri has claimed that businesses usually fund all political parties.
His remarks come amid revelations that corruption accused Sakunda boss, Kuda Tagwirei sponsored the opposition MDC’s 2018 election campaign.

For many, the revelation is a suggestion of how difficult it is for Zimbabwe to fight alleged cartels since they have an immense influence on all political parties. Posting on Twitter, Manyowa said:
Dear Zimbabwe, please, repeat after me. “Business people, especially those whose wealth depends on political connections & compromise office fund ALL parties & factions.” Yes, you don’t like QB. Fair. But many, including your favourites, funded MDC, G40, Lacoste & even Khupe!
If you recall, the Gupta family donated millions to the DA and even the red berret boys. Kenyan millionaires donated to both MDC & Zanu in the run-up to 2018. It is just that @ lacks the energy to check. If they did, they would see that funding regulations are broken daily.
That said, any party that turns down money which could galvanise grassroots in pursuit of white cloth principles will never win an election. Its the sad reality of a country built on the democracy of the stomach and food parcels.
Bottom line is, your favourite business people and philanthropists are as we speak, financially supporting MDC Chamisa, MDC Khupe, Zanu PF (all factions) and even small fish. Even the ones named by Biti in his top 10. Maybe 7-8 donate to MDC. That is just how they do things.
Head of Marketing and Sales – Distribution Africa at Bloomberg LP (BTVA), Ali Naka concurs with Manyowa but refutes allegations that EFF received funding from the Guptas family.
