ZUPCO Takes Delivery Of 65 More Buses

The Zimbabwe Passenger Company (ZUPCO) has taken delivery of 65 more buses. The Herald reports that 20 buses had over the weekend reached the Zimbabwe side of the Beitbridge border post whilst the remainder is expected to have crossed tonight into the country.

The company has been receiving buses from Belarus and China following agreements which were signed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa when he toured Asia in 2018.

A ZUPCO official who spoke to The Herald said that the buses are coming in batches. The unnamed official said:

The buses are coming in batches and currently import documents of 65 buses are being processed by a customs clearing company contracted by the Government.

The buses arrive at a time when there have been an increase in the number of ZUPCO buses involved in road accidents prompting some to say that perhaps the buses are not road worthy or vice versa.
