Govt Speaks On ‘Quarantined’ 118 Chinese Nationals

The government of Zimbabwe has refuted reports claiming that 118 Chinese nationals resident in the country were confirmed to have coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting used its Twitter handle to dispel the rumours. It said:

Govt has noted a circulating message alleging that 118 Chinese nationals have been quarantined. This is false and has no basis in truth.

Govt would like to assure the Nation that there is no case of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe. Our Health system remains in a high state of preparedness.

Meanwhile, Health and Childcare Minister Obadiah Moyo said Zimbabwe is now able to test for and diagnose COVID-19 after attaining the necessary test kits.

Moyo told local media that Zimbabwe would be conducting tests at the National Health Laboratory Services housed at Sally Mugabe Hospital in the capital, Harare when he toured the institution recently.
