PICTURE: Minister Chitando Sentenced To 3 Months In Jail, However Committal Is Suspended If He Is Compliant

Minister Chitando was this afternoon sentenced to three-months after he disobeyed two court orders issued by Justice Munangati-Manongwa on RioZim, Mining Zimbabwe reports.

The document about his sentencing was posted by Mining Zimbabwe and it reads in part:

  1. The first respondent (Minister Chitando) has been found in contempt of the orders granted by this honourable court on the 6th of June 2018 and the 10th of October 2018 as ordered by (case numbers provided)
  2. That the first respondent be and is hereby committed to Harare Remand Prison for a period of 3 months. The warrant for committal is however suspended on condition that the 1st respondent shall faithfully and dutifully comply with the orders of this court
  3. The 1st respondent shall pay for the cost of this application.
