Parts Of Chimanimani Receives 50+mm Of Incessant Rains, Flood Fears Soar As A Bridge In Biriiri Is Swept Away

Heavy rains were experienced In Chimanimani which led to an access bridge is Biriiri being swept away leaving motorists unable to access Bumba, Biriiri and Chimanimani, The Herald reports.

Civil Unit Protection Unit Director Nathan Nkomo speaking to the publication said:

Some parts of Chimanimani, which are still recovering from the devastating effects of Cyclone Idai, have so far received more than 50 millimetres of rain and if this continues, many households will be affected

The rains also left a trail of destruction in Binga where 181 homes were either swept away or destroyed by the floods that left the airforce failing to rescue other people as villagers were still marooned and some perched in trees as of yesterday.
