The spokesperson of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum, Khaliphani Phugeni has claimed that the reports that the POLAD members are set to use US$5.4 million on foreign trips were created by some jealousy individuals.
Yesterday, POLAD issued a statement refuting the claims saying that it was a desperate disinformation campaign. The grouping said that it could not be a coincidence that the story breaks when the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa is being accused of mismanaging $2 million.
POLAD added that the allegations made on the grouping were just a decoy to remove people’s attention from the real issue – the MDC corruption scandal.
Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Phugeni reiterated POLAD’s statement adding that POLAD has not yet travelled and even if it travels, the total expenses would not reach to US$5.4 million as reports claim. Phugeni added:
This is professional jealous; there are people who are looking at certain individuals that are doing that their work by the word POLAD and just want to tarnish their image and good reputation out of jealousy.
POLAD is a forum of presidential candidates in the 2018 elections that was initiated by president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
A number of parties joined and some later pulled out while the MDC led by Chamisa never joined arguing that the forum was a circus.
