Marry Mubaiwa-Chiwenga Granted Bail, Her Cousin Is Further Remanded
Marry Mubaiwa-Chiwenga, the estranged wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has been granted bail by the High Court on charges of assaulting a family maid.
Meanwhile, the former model’s cousin, Genius Kangure, better known as Ginimbi, who is accused of tax evasion after he allegedly undervalued the vehicles he imported from South Africa has been denied bail by a Harare magistrate.
Marry reportedly assaulted Delight Munyoro at Hellenic School in Borrowdale where she had gone to pick up the children.
Her lawyers argued that she could not have slapped Munyoro who was seated in a car with military and intelligence personnel, and her hands (Marry) were swollen.
High Court Judge Justice Erica Ndewere upheld the appeal against the decision by Mrs Makwande of denying her bail on the basis that she had a propensity for violence. Ndewere ordered Marry to stay at her parents’ residence in Glen Lorne until the matter was finalised, not to interfere with state witnesses including Munyoro and Batsirayi Furukiya and to report once every fortnight on Fridays at the Borrowdale Police Station.

When she was arrested on assault charges, Marry was on bail on charges of attempting to kill Chiwenga, money laundering, externalisation of funds and fraudulently seeking to upgrade her customary union to a civil marriage without her husband’s consent.
