3 Armed Robbers Linked To A US$250 000 Madokero Heist Arrested
ZRP In Gweru has arrested 3 notorious armed robbers who are linked to a number of robberies in 3 different provinces including a US$250 000 heist in Harare’s Madokero Suburb, The Herald reports.
The trio, Beverly Zimbiti, Shepherd Gundani and Cleopas Kandawasvika were arrested when police officers on night patrol stopped and searched their vehicle before they jumped off and fled to nearby bushes and the driver of the car speeding off prompting police officers to chase after him.
A source that spoke to the publication said;
The suspects then sped-off resulting in a high speed chase with the police. Kandawasvika who was driving the car however failed to control it and it plunged into a ditch. Kandawasvika was immediately arrested and later implicated Gundani,
Upon arrest, Gundani also implicated Zimbiti and the suspects also confessed they were behind a spate of robberies including the $250 000 heist which happened in Madokero in 2018.

Armed robberies have surged in the last few months, this week a gang of masked armed robbers, in a typical movie style, pounced on money changers at Makoni shops in Chitungwiza.
