Botswana: All 5 Suspected Cases Of Coronavirus Tested Negative

The government of Botswana said all the five suspected cases of Novel coronavirus in the country tested negative.

The Botswana Ministry of Health and Wellness released a statement on Wednesday which read:

Results of the five suspected cases of Novel Coronavirus 2019 (nCoV)

Following testing of the five (5) suspected cases of Novel Coronavirus 2019 (nCoV) conducted at different time points of their presentation to the hospital, the results for all the five suspected cases were all negative.

The Medical Team will continue to monitor the cases and the public is still urged to continue being vigilant and to observe preventative measures such as diligent hand washing and covering of the mouth when coughing and sneezing.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues to screen all arrivals to Botswana for the Novel Coronavirus 2019 (nCov). However, we still advise the public to:

  • Postpone unnecessary travel to affected countries.
  • Improve personal hygiene such as frequent hand washing and
  • Proper waste disposal.
