As the world commemorates the world cancer day, here are a few tips on how to prevent cancer cells from multiplying in your body:
1. Eat healthily
Increase your intake of whole grains, fruits and vegetables and decrease your intake of red meat and saturated fats.
2. Avoid Tobacco
Avoid smoking tobacco and at all costs, also avoid passive smoke.
3. Limit yourself to an average of one drink a day.
In case you can’t stop drinking completely, limit yourself to one drink a day. Excess consumption of alcohol is linked to the increase of the following cancers:
- Cancers of the mouth,
- larynx (voice box),
- oesophagus (food pipe),
- liver
- colon
- breast cancer
4. Lose weight
Obesity is known to increase the risk of many forms of cancer.
5. Get enough sleep
Even though the evidence linking cancer to lack of sleep is not that strong, lack of sleep causes a lot of problems that will also lead to cancer according to the Harvard Medical School.
6. Avoid infections that lead to cancer
infections like hepatitis, HIV, and the human papillomavirus must be avoided at all costs. Most of them are transmitted through intercourse or through contaminated needles.
7. Avoid exposure to industrial toxin
Toxins like asbestos fibres, benzene, aromatic amines, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) whenever possible must be avoided at all c
