Polluted Fuel Grounds Police Fleet In Mash West

Most of the police vehicles in remote parts of Mashonaland West Province have been grounded due to the use of contaminated fuel, making it difficult for police in the province to effectively carry out its mandate.

This was revealed by Superintendent Obvious Gadzikwa, who said most outlying police stations in the province get fuel from Chinhoyi using uncertified containers resulting in the contamination of the fuel and consequently damage to the vehicles. Said Gadzikwa:

We have one fuel supplier as the police, and the supplier said he cannot drive his vehicle to Kariba and other districts so he leaves the fuel here (in Chinhoyi), prompting other districts to come and collect fuel in containers.

Gadzikwa said the situation has affected police operations in far-flung places like Siakobvu.

He appealed for funds to repair the grounded vehicles to enable police in the province to discharge its duties.
