Matutu and Tsenengamu held a press conference on Monday where they accused prominent businesspeople, among them Kuda Tagwirei and Billy Rautenbach of corruption.
Mahere also warned Matutu and his colleagues that they risk being used and then spit out as happened to Kudzanai Chipanga. Mahere wrote on Twitter:
Zanu PF youths have no agency of their own. They are lapdogs for the old, wasted men at the top for whom they bark in return for trinkets. Their poorly choreographed slideshows are a weak attempt to distract us from the real issues.
We want food, fuel and forex.
Zanu PF youths learnt nothing from Kudzai Chipanga. These old men will use you then spit you out. You’re better off fighting for a constitutional democracy made of strong institutions so that you are safe when disaster strikes.
Chipanga was a ZANU PF youth leader towards the end of the Robert Mugabe era and is famous for daring military Generals a few days before the November 2017 coup. He was subsequently arrested and fell out of favour with the ruling party.
