Former SA President Says Apartheid Was NOT A Crime Against Humanity

Former South African President, FW de Klerk, who was the last president during apartheid, refused to accept that the system was a crime against humanity.

Speaking during an interview with SABC’s Manelisi Dubase on February 2, marking 30 years after he announced the unbanning of black parties in South Africa and the release of the late liberation icon Nelson Mandela, de Klerk asserted that apartheid cannot be equated to genocide.

Asked about his view on the United Nations Resolution which designated apartheid a crime against humanity, de Klerk responded:

I don’t fully agree with that, I’m not justifying apartheid in any way whatsoever. It did (wreak havoc to millions of South Africans) and I profusely apologise for that.

But there is a difference between calling something a crime…, like genocide is a crime, apartheid. There was never a genocide under apartheid. More people died because of black om black violence.
