Church Leaders Petition ED For Farms

Indigenous church leaders have petitioned President Emmerson Mnangagwa to grant them land to build churches and do other projects as happened with churches “that came with colonial masters”.

Speaking at a Zimbabwe Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches conference at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Saturday, Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi said:

We want you to acknowledge us as indigenous churches. The colonial governments were giving farms to churches they came along with. We want the government to give us the same privileges.

The gathering was also attended by the leader of the United Families International Church, Emmanuel Makandiwa, and leader of a faction of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe, Cossam Chiangwa.
