Govt To Install Solar Power Facilities At Civil Servants' Homes

The government will provide cost-effective solar power facilities at civil servants’ homes in the first quarter of 2020 as part of measures to improve their conditions of service.

This was said by Public Service Commission (PSC) deputy chair Ambassador Mary Margaret Muchada following the striking of a salary adjustment deal between the government and its workers earlier this week. She said:

The PSC is pursuing a project for cost-effective solar power facilities at civil servants’ households in the next three months. The repayment period will be spread over a reasonable period.

Muchada added that the government plans to increase the fleet of buses availed for civil servants from the current 60 to 90.

She said that there are also plans to establish medical and pension fund schemes under which employee benefits will be invested in the money market with the help of the Ministry of Finance.
